Gratitude = Happiness Project

One thing I've really been trying to work on is looking for the good in every situation and in every person... Growing up I always felt that was a great strength of mine, but as of lately i've been feeling that it has been more of a weakness. As part of my personal study lately i've been studying gratitude, happiness, & joy. I came across a lesson in The Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Gordon B. Hinckley called "Cultivating an Attitude of Happiness and a Spirit of Optimism". This talk contains so many gems that fills my heart with so much happiness right then and there. (what more would you expect from the hinckleys though? They are both prime examples of cultivating happiness)

I just wanted to include a few inserts from the lesson that have really impacted me and my desire to have gratitude and happiness in each and every day.

"With gratitude in our hearts, let us not dwell upon the few problems we have. Let us rather count our blessings and in a great spirit of gratitude, motivated by a great faith, go forth to build the kingdom of God in the earth."

“The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride. I repeat, my brothers and sisters, the trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride; and really, isn’t it a wonderful ride? Enjoy it! Laugh about it! Sing about it!"

"Believe in yourself. Believe in your capacity to do great and good things. Believe that no mountain is so high that you cannot climb it. Believe that no storm is so great that you cannot weather it. … You are a child of God, of infinite capacity."
"Stand a little taller, rise a little higher, be a little better. Make the extra effort. You will be happier. You will know a new satisfaction, a new gladness in your heart."
"Cultivate an attitude of happiness. Cultivate a spirit of optimism. Walk with faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature, in the goodness of those you love, in the testimony which you carry in your heart concerning things divine."
I believe that developing and practicing daily gratitude habits brings about the greatest happiness. Because this is something i'm trying to develop and be better at (and I feel that writing it down helps me most) I'm going to try and write weekly gratitude posts of something specific I'm grateful for in that week. Because Gratitude = Happiness

Happy Sunday lovelies!
